Terms of listing

These terms are an agreement between you, the business applying, and Sterling Pick, run by Markus Skov (sole proprietorship, org.nr. 920 721 869, Norway). You accept them when you submit an application.

What you pay for

• The review fee ($99, plus VAT where it applies) pays for a hands-on review of one app against our nine published criteria. It doesn’t buy approval.
• The listing ($249 a year, plus VAT where it applies) is offered only if your app is approved. It renews each year after a re-check, and you can cancel at any time; it then ends when the paid year does.
• Paying never changes where or how your app appears. Lists are ordered by category, editorial choice or date, and every listing says it’s paid.

For businesses only

You apply in the course of your business, not as a consumer, so consumer rights such as the right of withdrawal don’t apply.

Your part

• What you tell us about the app is true, and you have the right to list it.
• You give us a way to use the full app (review access) and keep it working during the review.
• You tell us if the app changes in a way that affects the criteria.

Our part

• A person reviews your app by hand, and we give written reasons if we don’t approve it.
• We write the review, and it’s ours: you can ask us to correct facts, but not to change our opinion.
• We re-check every listing each year, and may remove one that no longer meets the criteria.

Refunds

• If you withdraw before the review starts, we refund the review fee. Once the review has started, the fee pays for it, whatever the outcome.
• If we remove a listing because the app fails a re-check, we refund the unused part of the year.
• If you delete your account, open applications are withdrawn on the terms above, and a listing ends at once without a refund for the rest of its paid year.
• Founding places have their own refund promise, in the founding terms.

The badge

While your listing is current, you may show the Sterling Pick badge using the embed code we give you. Don’t host your own copy: the badge shows whether the listing is current.

Liability

Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, except where the law doesn’t allow such a limit.

Changes

If we change these terms, we’ll tell you by email at least 30 days before. Changes don’t affect a review or a listing year you’ve already paid for.

Law and disputes

Norwegian law applies. Disputes go to Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett).
